Norfolk County Mosquito Control District conducts truck-based ultra low volume (ULV) aerosol applications in Randolph on Wednesday evenings each week, from after Memorial Day through mid-September, except on official holidays. These applications are conducted based on resident requests to the District and based on our arbovirus surveillance for WNV and EEE and are not town-wide each week. These applications take place after sunset until midnight.

Applications are not conducted when it is raining or when it is too cold at night. Please see the NCMCD website for more information, to make an online request, or request exclusion from these applications. Norfolk County Mosquito Control Website.

PREVENT DISEASES CAUSED BY MOSQUITO BITES

To avoid being bitten by mosquitoes and getting sick from West Nile Virus (WNV) or Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE):

  • Limit outside activity between evening and dawn when mosquitoes are likely to bite.
  • Wear long pants, long-sleeved shirts, a hat, and socks if outside.
  • Remove Standing Water in Yards or Unused Pools. Mosquitoes lay their eggs in standing water.
  • Use bug spray (insect repellent) when outside.
  • Use an insect repellent containing DEET:
    • For children and adults, use 30% or less DEET.
    • Picaridin or oil of lemon eucalyptus may be used instead of repellents containing DEET.
    • USE REPELLENTS ACCORDING TO DIRECTIONS ON BOTTLE (Adults should apply the repellent to young children).
